A year to develop
your practice.
And what surrounds it.

Our one-year programme brings creative practice together with leadership, enterprise, institutions and public life.

The year begins with the artist and their practice, then moves outward into the relationships, institutions and systems around that practice, before asking fellows to apply what they have learned through collaborative and public work.

Voice

The first part of the programme is concerned with creative identity, authorship and values. Fellows spend time looking closely at their own practice: what they are making, what is driving it, how they speak about it and where they see themselves within a wider cultural context.

Creative identity · Authorship · Storytelling · Reflection · Values & ethics

Authority

The second part turns toward the professional and institutional world around the artist. Fellows learn to communicate their ideas clearly, understand value and negotiation, work with institutions and develop a more informed relationship with power, influence and responsibility.

Institutional literacy · Communication · Negotiation · Contracts and IP · Creative enterprise · Economic sustainability

Impact

The final part of the year asks fellows to put those ideas into practice. Through collaborative projects and public engagement, they work with other people, build partnerships, make decisions and explore how creative practice can respond to cultural, civic and social questions.

Systems thinking · Partnerships · Project leadership · Civic engagement · Social impact · Ethical responsibility

How the
year works

They continue to develop their own practice while learning alongside people from other creative disciplines. Some sessions are reflective; others are practical. The aim is to connect what is discussed in the room to the decisions fellows are already making in their work and professional lives.

Seminars & workshops

Ideas, frameworks and discussions around creative practice, leadership, institutions and professional life.

Studio & critique

Time to examine work, question assumptions and hear from other practitioners.

Practitioner sessions

Conversations with artists, curators, lawyers, cultural producers, academics and people working inside institutions.

Mentorship

Ongoing guidance around practice, professional development and the questions fellows are working through.

Field engagement

Learning outside the classroom through encounters with institutions, organisations and communities.

Collaborative work

Projects that require fellows from different disciplines to work together and share responsibility.

Exhibition
& Capstone

The final part of the programme allows fellows to bring the year’s learning into a public setting. Each cohort completes two major bodies of work.

Capstone Social Impact Project

Fellows work in interdisciplinary teams to develop and carry out a project responding to a cultural or civic question. This process requires them to collaborate, build relationships, make decisions, and take responsibility for both the work and the people affected by it.

Cohort Exhibition

The year concludes with a public exhibition bringing together creative work, research, reflection and documentation from across the cohort. The exhibition is both a presentation of the fellows’ work and an opportunity for conversation with the wider artistic, institutional and public community.

Learning from
experience.

Artists learn alongside curators, cultural producers, academics, lawyers, photographers, strategists and institutional leaders, giving the programme a wider view of what it means to build and sustain a creative life.
